I love reading posts like this of yours-all full of your big, hopeful and accepting heart. I'll tell you what's clear, these are two very lucky men-Lil and big because they have you. Also, they're both pretty cute so that's a win too.:)
Can't wait to watch this unfold. I'm certain it will happen just as it's meant to. You won't allow anything else for your boy.

Your friends are exactly, it will take time. the best advice I can give (having gone through this for the past three years) is to:
...assure your son that he is tremendously blessed to be loved so much by so many
...remind your son that respect and trust are a two-way street (i.e., no one gets to be an asshole)
...never underestimate the power of shared experiences. Share time together with the three of you and with the two of you (pick two, any two). Eventually both of them will see that by strengthening the bonds between the twos will make the three even better.

Trust me, being as Type A as I am, it's very difficult to be zen about this, but that's what I need to be. The not boyfriend will have other ways of doing things and approaches you've never tried (or have tried and haven't worked for you). Let him try them anyway. If I didn't my 5YO would still be sitting at the dinner table, refusing to eat peas.

You give me hope.

That's me. I'm a single mama in the city who is an editor, writer and social media host. I wear inappropriately high heels to the playground and know too much about light sabers.

Star Wars-obsessed, Tae Kwon Crazayyy child who eerily/awesomely knows exactly how both high-fructose corn syrup and autopsies work. He also compliments my shoes. My work here is done.

I wrote this.

It is mine. All mine. Everything written here is copyright me and only me. Do not even think about using it without permission. OK, now back to nice grrrl me.
