Hi Jessica! I read all your posts, have for a long time, but I am a chronic lurker. Just shy, I guess. Anyway, I had to comment now... I am so, so sorry about your grandmother. She has been part of your life for so very long, and of course you feel grief. Losing the spirit of somebody doesn't do much to lessen the pain when they physically pass on. It seems like it should, but it doesn't. Allow yourself to feel your grief, and accept that not only are you grieving for her physical body, but now you can finally fully grieve for the spirit that passed on so many years ago. Hugs to you and your family.

Kristen

Oh, honey. I've been thinking of you. After my grandma died (similar situation, as I think you know) in January, I had many of the same emotions. This Christmas was surprisingly hard -- it's not like we've been spending Christmas with her for the last few years or anything, and it's not like I really looked forward to giving her presents that she wouldn't know how to open, and wouldn't recognize when she saw them, but she was truly gone, and it hurt.

That's me. I'm a single mama in the city who is an editor, writer and social media host. I wear inappropriately high heels to the playground and know too much about light sabers.

Star Wars-obsessed, Tae Kwon Crazayyy child who eerily/awesomely knows exactly how both high-fructose corn syrup and autopsies work. He also compliments my shoes. My work here is done.

I wrote this.

It is mine. All mine. Everything written here is copyright me and only me. Do not even think about using it without permission. OK, now back to nice grrrl me.
