Behind my own scene: Getting ready for the Gabbys

Yes, this is out of order. And yes, I know I am backtracking a bit, and I am sure you will forgive me since I've been all kinds of codeined and ZPac-ed in bronchitis hell. Before I headed off for a fun night of honoring Greek Americans, shaking it a little bit to the "voice of Greece" Glykeria (whatever this woman is doing in the motherland is working...she's 54, looks amazing and clearly has fireball energy), and wishing I could have squeezed my camera into my overstuffed clutch so I could bring you all pics of the phenomenal shoes I observed on lovely Greek lady feet, I turned my bathroom into a salon while Lil E documented Mommy "getting so so fancy."

First, the photographer, who was working two cameras -- mine and his (the indesctructo with photos that evaporate into no-memory-card vapor, shown here).

My sink. Note the ibuprofen, cough syrup, neti pot saline packets, saline spray and thermometer among the hot rollers and hair spray. I was prepped from the inside out, y'all.


The pashmina wrap Lil E lobbied for me to wear since it would make me look like a bodyguard for Darth Sidius. I'm not sure if Darth Sidius made it a habit to employ bodyguards wearing push-up bras and 5-inch heels. But if he did, more power to his evil ass.


Yep, that's my pedicure. The composition isn't brilliant, but I love him for capturing the details.


Lil E does his high-pitched, fancy dancy "I'm a giiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiirrrrrl" move. Don't be fooled, though. He's wearing three of my bracelets and two Mardi Gras necklaces. He gave me one, assuring me it looked perfect with my dress and would help us think of each other all night. (I know, nice potty in the background. Good Lord, who took this picture?)


And yes, I am aware I look a bit Wilma Flinstone-ish here. No need to poke fun.

Hello! And goodnight. One last hug before mama raced off downtown and Lil E skipped off to the car with my dad for a Grandma and Grandpa Slumber Party. "My taxi is waiting!" he yelled out, smiling and waving to me. "And don't forget to wear that necklace and think of me!"
